Dragonfly Garden Note Card Box

On my Facebook Live video yesterday, I shared how to make this cute box! It’s the perfect size for Mini Envelopes and 3″ x 3″ handmade cards. The Dragonfly Garden stamp set, Dragonflies Punch, and the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper work together beautifully to create this easy box.

Show your appreciation to someone by giving them a box of handmade note cards!

It doesn’t have to be for note cards, though! This size box will fit lots of other things. You could fill it with candy or chocolates, but anything that fits would work: Jewelry, seed packs, candles, figurines, tea, snacks, car keys, ear buds, money, a face mask, make-up, a pair of socks … whatever! LOL!

It would be really funny to get a pair of socks!

The box is an adaptation of a smaller rectangular box that my friend and fellow Canadian Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Desirée Spenst made. It was a cute box, but not big enough to fit cards. I just had to adjust the measurements for the base of the box, then I could decorate it my own way. I chose the dragonflies.

It makes me happy.

To make this 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ square box that is 1 1/4″ high, start with a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock, measuring 6″ x 10 1/2″. Score the long side at 1″, 4 1/2″, 5 3/4″, and 9 1/4″. Score the short side at 1 1/4″ and 4 3/4″. With this as your base, you can use my video tutorial to complete the base of the box. Once you see how I put it together and decorated it, you can do the same or you can decorate it anyway you like! It’s easier than you might think!

After I finished recording the video tutorial, I added some Artistry Blooms Adhesive Backed Sequins and a white heat embossed sentiment from the Many Messages stamp. I think these elements complete the box nicely.

The video below is a recording of my Monday Facebook Live. You can join me live on Facebook at 10:30 PST every Monday morning and interact with me while I share projects with you. Next week I’ll be unboxing the May Paper Pumpkin kit!

Ice Cream Shaker Card

If you know me, then you know that I love ice cream. I will eat almost any ice cream.

(Sorry, McDonalds, you definitely don’t make the cut)

My favourites are coffee or vanilla bean Häagen-Dazs, but I also love a good ice cream cone from most ice cream shops. We have an ice cream shop in town called MooLix, which is a favourite for me and my family. It’s even become a tradition for us on Canada Day to walk along the boardwalk by the lake, so we can hit up the MooLix. A waffle cone with a couple scoops of whatever flavour suites our fancy in the moment is a gloriously tasty treat!

On my Facebook Live last Monday, I made a shaker card using the Ice Cream Corner Suite. This card features the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper, the Sweet Ice Cream Stamp Set, the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch, and the Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles.

You can watch the video on Facebook, but I also have it up on YouTube and here on my blog. What can I say, I like to make things easy for you!

Did you know that the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper and the Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles will soon be gone forever? They are products in the January – June Mini Catalogue, which means that they will not be available to purchase after June 30th. In fact, they might run out of stock before then, so If you love them, go to my Canadian online store and add them to your cart before it’s too late.

If you like my content, I would love to know! Your comments, replies, and interactions with my posts make my day and encourage me to keep sharing. If you make any of my designs (or use them as a spin off for your own amazing creations), please tag me in your posts on social media. I also love when you share a photo with me through Facebook Messenger. I get so pumped when I see your take on one of my designs or techniques. Thank you for boosting my spirits and supporting my passion.

I think you’re pretty amazing!

Magnolia Smiles

The card I have to share with you today was designed for the As You See It Challenge blog. We have a “fill in the blank challenge” for you!

The magnolia trees are one of the first trees to flower in the Okanagan Valley. Some people call them tulip trees, but that’s just a pet name because of the shape of the blooms on the tree. The blooms don’t last very long, but they sure are pretty!

I love seeing all the flowers and new green growth in the spring. It offers the promise of warm summer days to come.

I used the Magnolia Embossing folder with Watercolor Paper and watercoloured the image with Polished Pink Ink for the blossoms, Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay for the leaves, and Pool Party for the area around the flowers. I also added a touch of Mango Melody to the flower centers and a hint of Gray Granite for subtle shading. After the ink dried, I added some highlights with my Chalk Marker to the flowers and leaves. The embossing detail seemed to get a bit lost from adding water, so I lined it up in my embossing folder and ran it through the Cut and Emboss Machine again, resulting in a much crisper embossed image.

What’s your favourite flower in the spring? Why not let us know at the As You See It Challenge blog by sharing a card with us there! We love seeing your beautiful and inspiring creations!
